Gunslinger: Desert Mouse
The elusive Mouse knows his desert like the back of his hand.
Growing up, my grandmother had a lot of Native American art and portraits throughout her house that I loved to look at. And Steven’s drawing of Desert Mouse is just great art. While my eyes constantly look over the details of his necklace, the masterful coloring, and intricacies of his clothes; I keep going back to his face. There is such strong belief and defiance in his eyes; his lips pursed in determination as his eyebrows scream, “just try me.” Every time I look at him, I see something new that Steven illustrated. From the strong black outlines to the hint of teal by his feathers, Desert Mouse is one tough dude and reminds me a little of Magua from The Last of the Mohicans.
As for gameplay, Desert Mouse is a great Outlaw to have in Life Out West. His ability speaks to his resourcefulness, as he often targets players who are working on Wheat heavy Building Projects. By being able to draw a card for every Wheat Card on the Homestead, he offers players great versatility and the opportunity to draw 1 - 5 free cards! That could be as much as a full turn of actions in free draws and would fill up any empty hand quickly! Having trouble pulling that last Horse Card for your Coal Mine? Sounds like a perfect job for Desert Mouse! Give him a try the next time you play Life Out West and strategically outwit your opponents to victory.
Card: Outlaw
Ability: After a successful Shootout, Desert Mouse may draw one card for every Wheat Resource on the Lawman’s Homestead.
